    Manchester the second city of the United Kingdom is located in the North East of England and is often referred to as "the capital of the north". It lies to the East of the city of Liverpool, West of Sheffield, South West of Leads and North West of London.  

    Manchester located at 53°29N 2°15W has the University of Manchester, is an important retail center, is popular for its football club of Manchester United and was until recently a massive industrial center.

    During the Industrial revolution Manchester was an important center of cotton processing and was known as "Cottonopolis". The city also played a very important role in manufacturing aircrafts for the Royal Air Force during the Second World War.
