The first thing you need to do is figure out what you want to study. Than look for the best schools in that field. After that figure out how much you could afford and how far from home you want to be.once you have all those answers you should be able to narrow it down to a couple . Than go to each campus and check them out to see if they really offer what you want. Talk to some of the students at the schools and find out what the over all consensus is as to if the school is as good as its reputation.

Your own school should have a guidance counselor. You can also go to the public library and the Internet has plenty of information. You should start your planning about the 9th grade and have your portfolio if at all possible. If you're getting a later start, then work with what you have. Grades are not the only thing that are important, so write down your strengths and your interests. There is money out there for those things too. Certain schools will specialize in certain areas, so you'll want to search by specialities and interests as well as cost and location. I hope you can find someone at your school to help you. Just start asking people you know and see what turns up, but I think you will need some help to start at least. Consider a local community college for the first two years if possible. It will allow you to be more flexible in your thinking and get your basics out of the way at a much reduced cost. It will also have people there that can help you into your next two years. Good luck to you.
