Spiro Theodore Agnew was the 39th Vice President of the United States. He served under President Richard Nixon. He was born on November 9, 1918 and passed away on September 17, 1996.  Just like Richard Nixon, he resigned his post as Vice President of the United States because of his involvement in the Watergate scandals. He was the second president in history to resign his post.

He was the son of Greek immigrants. He grew up in Maryland and studied Chemistry at John Hopkins University, then went into the military. He later became governor of Maryland.

After his resignation, he went out of the public eye. He went into business as an international broker. He was later fined and forced to pay more than $250,000 to cover all of the bribes that he received during his terms in state office.

He died suddenly in 1996 after being diagnosed with an advanced form of Leukemia.
