Can Laxatives Help With Weight Loss?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

No, laxatives do not help with weight loss and unfortunately it is a myth which many young women believe. This leads to them risking their health all to get a size zero figures and it simply is not healthy. Laxatives are developed to help you go to the toilet when you have constipation. Taking them when you are perfectly healthy can lead to a variety of health problems.
Most people do not realise that laxatives can seriously damage their health and there does seem to be a really big misconception about them within the UK. Taking laxatives when you do not need them causes the body to lose essential nutrients and vitamins which it needs to function properly. People who take laxatives to lose weight tend to eat junk food as they feel the laxatives will cancel out the calories but this simply is not true. You are basically left with no nutrients in your body whatsoever and it will not take long for you to be hospitalised if you do keep using them as a form of weight control.

You know, with all of the very thin celebrities out there on the covers of the magazines, it's not wonder that girls feel the need to be thin. Diets do not work! You can't tell me that all of these spoiled, talentless celebs are on diets to lose weight! Get real! No wonder young girls have eating disorders! Show me five teenage celebs who are at a NORMAL healthy weight! Geez, I'm trying to puke up everything I eat! But, how do I know if I have thrown up everything? Hhhhmmmmm, maybe I should ask the no-talent Nicole Richie!!!!
