The Philippines is a group of around 7000 islands situated in the southeast Asia area with a population of around 90 million people.

This puts the Philippines 12th in the list of populations of countries in the world (based on the 2005 figure).

One measure of a country's wealth is its GDP (Gross Domestic Product).  GDP is defined as the market value of all final goods and services produced by that country in a given period of time.  There are three worldwide lists of GDP coming from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and CIA World Factbook.  In each list, the Philippines are either 24th or 25th in the list with a figure of between $400 billion and $450 billion.
