It depends on how old your dog is. If it is still a puppy it is common for this to happen. If it is older it could very well be its diet. If you are feeding it soft food or feeding it table scraps this can also cause your dog to have soft stools. I wouldn't worry too much unless it becomes liquid like. If it continues i would take it to a vet. But like I said, mind what kind of a diet your dog is on, they can't eat just anything and stay healthy.
