    United Kingdom is a short name given to the country which is called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It also has other short names like UK or Britain. This country shares the land border with the Republic of Ireland which lies on the west of the United Kingdom. Atlantic Ocean bounds the country, other surrounding water bodies being the English Channel, the North Sea, the Celtic Sea and the Irish Sea.

    The channel Tunnel links the European country of France to the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is primarily comprises of 4 constituent countries which fall under the constitutional monarchy of Queen Elizabeth II. The 4 countries that constitute to form the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are:  England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Whales.
