Transformational change is defined as the organization's mission, restructuring operations, re-engineering functions and deploying new systems. Acquisition and merger is more or less the same thing. The only difference is that acquisition is done by a large company that takes over a smaller firm. While in merger both firms merge together to synergize their efforts.
