Do You Think It's Ok For Children To Celebrate Halloween?

Is it OK To let your children celebrate Halloween as long as you are not celebrating it in a witchery or devilish way? I always trick or treating but we just dressed up and went for the candy. We didn't look at it like we were participating in anything or satanic. What do you think?

I think it is OK.  Me and my family and children have always celebrated Halloween.  The kids have fun dressing up, going to parties, and tricker treating for candy.  I only take them to places we know though, and check all their candy before they eat it.  It depends on the parent I guess, and how the feel about it.  I never let my kids go tricker treating on their own.  I don't feel it is safe.  I maybe over protective but that is my right as a mother.  If you don't want them going tricker treating.  Then they can still have fun and attend parties or have your own party.

Halloween is meant to be fun, its changed since the old days when it originally began. Kids should be able to enjoy the excitement and parents should stop worry about things that aren't real threats. I love Halloween, the fun, colors and just the all around feeling of it. no kid should not ever be allowed to participate in something fun and innocent like Halloween.

There has been so many discussions about this over the years at one time they even switched the name to beggars night to get away from the thought of it being a satanic ritual or worship...as you said it is used to further the occult and should not be celebrated just for that reason. But there is no reason the day can not be changed into something that can be used for good... That said most of the people where i live have basically quit giving out candy because of the possible crimes and lawsuits or being accused of putting something in the candy or causing some harm to a child... I remember( and i hate to sound like a old timer) but we use to get a grocery bag full of candy in one night before there we're rumors of razor blades and needles and whatever else was out there... It's a sad state of affairs when kids can not be kids anymore because of the sickos out there....they (the community) even went as far as to have a enclosed halloween type party at the local center of science and industry building where they would xray the candy ...what a messed up time we live in where you can't even eat a piece of chocolate without wandering who did what to it.....sorry for running off at the jibbs.later

For a kid, Halloween is about getting dressed in a fun costume, and going out collecting candy. That's it... So definitely YES celebrate!!!
