How Do I File My 2002 Tax Return?

In order to file your 2002 tax returns you will have to contact the Income Tax department at their toll free number of 1-800-829-1040. The reason for calling them is to obtain your W2s and other relevant data which will help you file your returns. The IRS will charge you a fee to photocopy and send you the relevant information. There is also a three year limit to the availability of a refund after which the eligibility to avail one expires. For a return dating back to 2002 the last date was the 15th of April 2006.

Since the information you require to file your returns may be missing, what you need to do is request the IRS for your "payer transcript". When you call the department, remember to ask them to fax the information as it may take longer getting to you in the mail.
