Louise Rennison is the author of the popular “Confessions of Georgia Nicholson” books.
Early life
Louise Rennison was born in 1951 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. She lived in a three bedroomed house with her family up until the age of fifteen, when the family moved to Wairakei in New Zealand. She lived in a one bedroom flat in her twenties and had a selection of jobs. She also went travelling and later went on to study Performing Arts at Brighten University.
As well as being a writer, Rennison is also a comedian and she did several shows in the 1980s. One of her shows from the 80s, which was entitled “Stevie Wonder Felt My Face”, was highly praised and she won a selection of awards for it at the Edinburgh Festival.
In addition to her popular Georgia Nicholson series, Rennison has also written a number of comedy scripts and has worked for Radio 4.
Writing Career
Rennison's most popular works are the Gergia Nicholson books. The first book in the “Confessions of Georgia Nicholson” series is “Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging”, which was published in 1999. The series follows the life of a teenage girl named Georgia Nicholson and the books are written in the form of her diary.
“Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging” won a number of wards, including the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Bronze Award. In the BBC's Big Read poll, where readers vote for the UK's favourite book, the novel came in at number 127.
The second instalment is entitled “It's ok, I'm Wearing Really Big Knickers. In the Us, The second instalment is entitled “On the Brightside, I'm Now The Girlfriend Of A Sex God”.
In total, the series has ten books, the most recent being “Are These My Basoomas I see Before Me?, which is due for release in June 2009 and will be the final instalment in the series.
In addition to the “Confessions of Georgia Nicholson” series, Rennison wrote a short book in 2007 for World Book and Copyright Day and she has also released a journal entitled “Fabbity-fab Journal”.

In 2008, a film adaptation of “Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging” was released and the title was changed to “Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging”. The film, which is set in Eastbourne, received mainly positive reviews from critics.
