Why Do I Have To Host My Boyfriend's Nieces 21st Birthday Party?

Sorry But I Am 52 And No Longer Into Parties At My Home. I Like To Work, Come Home And Relax. I Just Can't Stand To Party Anymore. How Do I Gracefully Get Out Of This One?

I would suggest throwing the party at his place. Make him able to envision it being thrown there, and persuade him that the festivities would be so much better there than at your place, all without you telling him you don't want it at your place. Now if that doesn't work you'll just have to be honest and tell him it can't happen at your place. It is your place, you do have a right to say no and he can't force you to do anything you don't want to.

Lady Lena, we share a place which I should have stated. It will be around Thanksgiving and they nor us have a ton of money to dump into this party. Now what? He said if they have it anyplace else, I'm not invited which I really don't care about going but it makes me look like the scrooge.

I would gracefully decline for whatever reason best suits your needs, health, animals, neighbors whatever works!

I tried last night to gracefully decline. Our house seems to be the "party" house in his eyes. It is funny, my cousin and her fiance are coming to town for a weekend and my boyfriend doesn't want them staying here (they have to get a hotel). I just don't understand his mentality on this issue. It's what he's comfortable with. I'm trying to hold my ground on this as I'm not comfortable with them.

If he see's it at the party house perhaps you should feverlantly disagree as how boring it is and you are and that this age of people need a more happening establishment than maybe "Church-Ladies"? lol

Well I would say that you find a reasonable place to rent or do it at a local park, and it's his niece have him plan most of it and give him decorating tips. Tell him you don't want to have it at the house, besides she is turning 21 and most at that age wanna go to the bar or club anyway.

I agree Ryanna, the party is supposed to be around Thanksgiving. I work 6 days a week in a health field and need my sleep. This party wouldn't get done until late and they are a loud group. She doesn't drink and I'm not sure why she doesn't at least want to go to a club. I think her mom is trying to get back with her ex, he seems to be getting an invite after I've heard for 5 yrs how horrible he is, doesn't pay support, is a drunk, etc. They haven't had contact with him in the 5 yrs I've known them other than going to court. And now he's invited??? I just don't trust strange people I don't know into my home.

Just tell your boyfriend in a nice way that you are not into things like that.  They can't expect you to do it in any case.  There is a lot of planning that goes into it and you 10 to 1 don't even know the nieces friends and what kind of taste the niece has.  What about music.  Why can't the parents do it

Thanks Tamy, I appreciate the comment. I thought I'd get blasted for not wanting it here. It's a long story but his family has a history, stealing, etc. Fighting, Not my type of crowd. The mother's place they say is too small.
