1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Both DNA and RNA are nucleic acids. DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid while RNA stands for Ribonucleic acid. A little comparison of the two is given below:

    Feature                  DNA                            RNA

    Name             deoxyribonucleic acid      ribonucleic acid

    Sugar             deoxyribose                   ribose

    Bases             adenine, thymine,           adenine, uracil
                           cytosine, guanine           cytosine, guanine

    Structure        double-stranded              single-stranded

Stability          very stable                     less stable than DNA

Found in          nucleus                          nucleus, cytoplasm, ribosomes

Types              one type only                 tRNA, rRNA, mRNA

Function          Contains genetic            Messenger between DNA and ribosomes
                            material                        during protein synthesis
