What Was Bonnie Prince Charlie's Real Name?

He was born on 31 December 1720, the son of the Old Pretender (to the British Throne),the deposed and uncrowned King James the Third of England as "The and grandson of King James 11. He was christened Charles Edward Louis Philip Casimir Stuart .
He hoped to re-gain the throne for the Stuart dynasty.
In 1746 he and his followers known as Jacobites defeated the English and allied Scottish forces at the Battle of Falkirk.
His ill fated efforts to displace the reigning monarch in England were quashed at Culloden. The Jacbites suffered heavy losses and Charles had to flee the forces of the Duke of Cumberland ( Butcher Cumberland), who exacted great revenge and savagery on the followers of the Jacobite cause.
bonnie Charlie never recovered from his defeat. He desended into decline and alchol and ended his days in exile in Florence, Italy a broken man.
