When Can We Hold The Kittens?
My cat had kittens last night. How long is it before i can touch them? As she gave birth in my daughters room and I'm not sure she could be trusted.

You should wait at least until they have their eyes open.. Especially with a child around, kittens are very fragile and are not a toy, so be extra careful and supervise the holding of the kittens.

I think it all depends on the mother and the relationship she has with you and your daughter. Some mothers may not mind at all if you hold them immediately, some may not want you to touch them at all. If it is her first litter u may wanna be pretty careful. She will let you know what she thinks is appropriate. If she gives you any signs of warnings at all that she uncomfortable, she means it. I don't know how old your daughter is but make sure you show her what is appropriate and safe and what is not. If she is pretty young I would try to move them as soon as possible. Good luck with the babies! :) ♥

I watched my first kitten being born at age 4. I have seen over 300 kittens being born. It is recommended that you don't touch the kittens before their eyes open. This usually happens between 2-4 weeks after birth.

Clbraz78 hit it right on the nose. It all depends on your and your daughters relationship with the mom. I have a 1yr old cat who got out 1 time while in heat and got pregnant and had kittens 1 wk and 5 days ago. She had them in my drawer even though I made up 2 boxes for her, one in my room and one in my daughters room ( both rooms is where she spend a lot of time in), anyway I found her in my drawer after about 1 hr after she was done having them and she let me pet her and the kittens( I didnt pick them up yet). She had 3 and 1 died the next morning and she let me tak it out the drawer and I moved her the kittens to the box I had made for her she was fine with me holding them at 2 days old. She just dont like it when they cry while we are holding them. Thats when she is errect and meowing wondering if they are alright.

It all depends on the mother cat. My cat had her kittens on June 25 and let me touch them the next morning. First I would try to pet the mother while she is with her kittens. She will let you know if she will allow you to touch them. Once in a while she may not like you touching them even if she let you before.

Usually the mom will let you hold the kittens within the next couple of days.It all depends if you are constantly with her and if you were the when birth took place. But if you notice she is up set with you touching them then it is very important to jut leave them alone for the first few days.then start off slow and pat them and watch the moms reaction. She should be fine.

You should wait a few weeks and watch the mother cat to make sure she is comfortable with you holding them (mother cats are very protective over their little ones for about 5 weeks.)
