How Many Kilometres Are There In Five Miles?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are approximately eight kilometres in five miles as each mile is approximately one kilometre and six hundred meters.
Kilometres are units of measuring distance in the metric system. Each kilometre is further broken down into one thousand meters. Mile on the other hand is a unit of length that is used in the Imperial Unit. Miles are widely used as a system of measure in the United States.

The world over "miles" is being replaced progressively by "kilometers". In fact the kilometre is the default system of measure used the world over. The mile was traditionally used by Romans for the first time and originally denoted a distance of approximately a thousand paces. In recent years the introduction of kilometres in the United States was given up after strong opposition from the general public.
