According to the information, I found, this is the only site, which appears to have the most recent data. At this website (www.cybercollege.com/frtv.news) I gathered the following information.

Japan is credited with owning and circulating seven(7) of the top twenty(20) newspapers in the world. Japan's record number is based on the number of subscribers. Japan also holds the record for largest number of readers based on per capita.

Circulation Figures for Top Five Newspapers
    Yomiuri Shimbun-Japan...........14,532,694
    Asahi Shimbu-Japan.................12,601,375
    Sichuan Ribao-China..................8,000,000
    Mainichi Shimbun-Japan............5, 845,857
    Bild-Germany................................ 5,674,400

The total circulation for all seven(7) Newspapers in Japan, is 4,486,244,800. The Wall Street Journal is number twenty(20) among this world list, however in the top tow hundred(200) list for the United States it listed as number one(1). The New York Times is listed as twenty-three(23) on the the world list and number three(3) on the United States list.
