What Are The Words That Mean Asian?

Asian as the word suggests, means an inhabitant or a native hailing from the continent of Asia. Asia is home to half of the world's population. Needless to say, it is the largest of all the continents in the world. Though most of the inhabitants of Asia are widely termed as Asians, this term is associated in practice to Eastern, south-eastern and Southern part of Asia. People in the south-western part of Asia like the Turks, Kurds, Iranians and Arabs are known as those hailing from the Middle East.

In a way, the term "middle east" also means "Asian." People living in Indonesia and Philippines are also called Asians since their island groups are a part of the Asian continent. People living in the central and Southern part of Pacific are not Asian but Pacific Islanders. The word Asiatic is another synonym for Asian.
