Born as Thomas Jeffery Hanks on July 9,1956 in California, United States, Tom Hanks is the highest earning actor in USA. He has won twice the best actor awards for his performances in FOREST GUMP and PHILADELPHIA.
His early career in acting wasn't on the big scale as he appeared in few sitcoms and continue to did it before starting acting for Hollywood films. His first acting experience for TV came at the age of 23 when he was given the role of Kip Wilson in "Bosom Buddies".
His first movie was SPLASH. Released in 1984 and directed by Ron Howard was a light comedy but his real work came to the lime light with his acting in NOTHING IN COMMON released in 1986. His early career was typified as an actor suitable for light romantic movies with little or no acceptability in Dramatic roles. But it was his movie PHILADELPHIA which proved his critics wrong. From this movie Hanks picked up as a serious and freshest faces in industry to play dramatic characters with strong on screen persona. His strong performance in FORREST GUMP have mesmerized the moviegoers all around the world and won him his second academy award in two years. His other most notable performances are SAVING PRIVATE RYAN , YOU HAVE GOT THE MAIL, THE TERMINAL, and DA VINCI CODE.
