How Does An Electric Guitar Work?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

First off, you need a power source. When you plug in an amplifier, the current runs through it, which connects to your 1/4 inch jack (guitar cable). When you plug the cord into the guitar, the electrical current travels through a series of wires within your guitar, which powers the magnetic pickups both on the bridge and neck position. When you strum, the vibrations of the strings are picked up on the humbuckers and the sound travels through your cord and into your amplifier, hence the sound.
