Bamburgh Castle has been in existence from as early as 547 A.D., according to most historical records. It was destroyed on a number of occasions and the current fortification was likely built by the Normans. The castle is located along the coast in Northumberland, near the village of Bamburgh.
The Bamburgh Castle is open to visitors from 10 March to 31 October, from 11am to 5pm. It is not possible to enter the castle after 4.30pm. A total of 12 rooms in the castle are open to visitors and tours, and there is also an archaeology museum on site, as well as an aviation museum. Adult admission costs £6.50, while the rate is significantly discounted for children (£2.50) and for seniors (£5.50). For group rates and special discounts or other arrangements, the best idea is to phone the Bamburgh Castle's visitor centre at (0)1668 214515.
