    Union pacific corporation is a company which extended the United States railway structure to the pacific coast. The Union pacific corporation was included by the act of congress which was taken in the year of 1862. The railway system was started to build to meet the Central pacific railroad. The Central pacific railroad was being built eastward from Sacramento of California. The union pacific corporation started to build the railroad from Omaha. It was of 1620 kilometres from Omaha. The two rail roads were joined at the point of Promontory of Utah in the year of 1869.

    The corporation was financed by issuing federal loans and land grants. But the corporation was left badly in debt after its involvement in the Credit Mobilier scandal. The company was gone under receivership in the year of 1893. Edward H. Harriman recognized the railroad to take part in aspect of economical development of the west in the year of 1897.

    The pacific corporation was amalgamated with Pacific Rail road Co. and Western Pacific Railroad Co. in the year of 1982. The acquisition with the Southern Pacific Rail Corporation made the Union Pacific Corporation the largest railroad in the United States in the year of 1996. All the rail-based shipping has been taken place in the western are under the control of Union Pacific Corporation which is two-third of the total country.
