Savona basically is a seaport and commune situated in the northern Italian region of Liguria. It is also the capital of the district of Savona, placed in Riviera Di Ponte on the Mediterranean Sea, at the sea-level.

Initially Savona used to be one of the main locations of the Italian iron industry. There were many foundries, shipbuilding, railway workshops, engineering work shops, brass foundry's etc based in Savona.

According to history Savona use to be the Roman Savo of Ingauni, where according Livy, Mago had piled up his valuables during the Second Punic War. Savona outperformed all the other districts and became one of the important places during the Roman time because of the harbor of Vada Sabatia through which a road passed across the Apennines to Placentia. During 1191 the community of Savona bought the land claims of the feudal lords, the Marchesi Del Carretto.
