What Is The Gcf Of 182 And 196?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    GCF stands for greatest common factor.

    This should be done by listing the common factors of each number which can start by dividing by 2 as shown below

    182 = 2*9*9 = 2 * 3 * 3* 3 *3  (these last five numbers are the factors)

    196 = 2*2*7*7 (these are the factors)

    The only common factor of each number is a single instance of "2"

    Therefore 2 is the greatest common factor in your example.

    If there had been several common factors to find the greatest common factor you would multiple the common factors by each other to arrive at the "greatest" common factor.
