In the south-eastern part of Asia you can find a country that can be attributed with the name ob Brunei or officially the Sultanate of Brunei. The country has its location on the island of Borneo and shares its coast line with South China Sea. It is also surrounded by Sarawak Province of Malaysia.

Earlier, the country was under rule of the Great Britain and got its independence only in the year 1984. The country is now an absolute monarchy and the same dynasty is in power since the fifteenth century, barring the British Rule.

The capital and the largest city of the nation is Bandar Seri Begawan and its official language is Malay. The area of the nation is 5,765 square kilometres and its estimated population in the year 2005 was 374,000.

Malay is the predominant culture in the country and is heavily influenced by Islam and Hinduism. If you are planning to visit the country one thing you must take note of is that alcohol is banned here, but a foreigner is allowed to bring some. But that also only for a non-Muslim and in limited quantity.
