You Are Working In The Emergency Department Of A Regional Hospital In Rural West Virgina. A Patient Is Brought In By The EMT's. Their Initial Report Indicates The Patient Has A Headache And Stiff Neck. Their initial report indicates the patient has a headache and stiff neck. The EMTs add that the patient's symptoms appear rather mild-he still has neck movement and the headaches are not severe. He is very thin, has dark spots on his face and upper body, and open bloody-looking eruptions on his lips. His fever is 104F and his blood pressure is low. He also has severe diarrhea.

Symptoms which your mentioning like headache, neck stiffness, fever and skin rashes can be signs of meningitis. It can be viral or bacterial. This is my understanding after reading your question. Final diagnosis requires various blood tests to confirm the infection and inflammation, spinal tap test and neurological examinations.
