Which Is Broken My Usb Chord Or The Computer?

Sounds like its the usb or removable disk..... Especially if it is a thumb drive those can become dirty after all the travelling they tend to do. I would either try cleaning it like its an old nintendo game or replace it.

Go to the usb port in device manager and check the drivers and see if there is an exclamation mark next to it.  If it's ok, then try a different usb cord. It doesn't take much for a usb to mess up. You can use compressed air inside and out of the port to clean it, a clean paint brush is good too.
