Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom and is the largest city in Northern Ireland and after Dublin is the second-largest city in the entire Ireland. The River Lagan passes through Belfast with the city situated at the point where the river enters the Irish Sea (Belfast Lough)

Belfast has a temperate climate with significant rainfall just like whole of Northern Ireland with the average daily maximum temperature in July being 18 °C (64 °F) while in January it is 6 °C (43 °F). It gets about two hundred days of significant rainfall in a year and an annual rainfall total of approximately 846 millimeters (33.3 in). Western Ireland and Scotland, receives rainfall double of what Belfast receives but it still receives substantially more than Dublin or the south-east coast of Ireland. There is an occasional snow fall in winter on an average of only 2—3 days per year.

Belfast has a moderate and cool climate at most times of the year and the highest temperature recorded in Belfast was 30.8 °C (87.44 °F) on 12 July 1983 while the lowest was -13 °C (8.6 °F).
