Why Was Alfred Hitchcock So Ugly?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Alfred Hitchcock was an English-born U.S. film director who was born in 1899 and died in 1980. He called himself "an uncommonly unattractive young man." Film director and master of the suspense thriller, Alfred Hitchcock preferred not to talk about his childhood. He was very pudgy, very plain and was considered a loner. Girls were never an important part of his life, and he ended up marrying the first girl that he ever dated. Always unhappy with his overweight body, he learned to joke about it: "A New York doctor once told me that I was an adrenal type. That apparently means that I am all body and vestigial legs. But since I am neither a mile runner nor a dancer, and my present interest in my body is almost altogether from the waist up, that didn't bother me much." Oddly enough, his unattractive body turned out to be an incredible publicity tool and helped to make him a worldwide celebrity.
