Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Well the fire more or less burnt down everything that existed in the 17th Century city of London. It burnt down nearly 70,000 homes of a total of around 80,000 that existed in the city. Its borders can be described as the River Thames to the south the Tower of London to the east, the Moorgate and Cripplegate to the north and the Temple Bar to the west.

In fact most of the city that existed within the Roman City wall was burnt including the St. Paul's Cathedral. The fire even came close burning down the Palace of Whitehall.
The fire started off in the Pudding Lane north of the London Bridge in the bakery of Thomas Farriner. The fire started on the 2nd of September and continued till the 5th of September 1666 a Wednesday.
