If you have gotten acrylic nails put on at a salon or beauty parlour, then it is best that you get them removed from there itself, even if you have applied the nails on yourself. If this is not an option for you, you can try out the following method:

You can try out the technique that is used in most salons for acrylic nail removal. What you need is nail polish remover, a nail filer, rubbing alcohol and any kind of cream or lotion.

Firstly, immerse your fingers in any kind of nail polish remover or acetone for a time period of about fifteen minutes. After this, try removing your nails slowly from the cuticle up with a filer. After removal, immerse your fingers in rubbing alcohol to clean them and apply cream to maintain good skin.

You can go to a local beauty supply open to the public and buy a bottle of pure acetone. It has to be pure. When you get home, pour acetone in a glass bowl just enough acetone to immerse your nails completely. Also, if you set the acetone filled bowl into a bigger bowl that has hot water in it , this will help soak them off quicker.soak off time is normally 30-40 minutes. Make sure you have a pusher implement to help scrape off the dissolved acrylic.

Best way to remove them is to file them down completely (acrylic base) if you have time, and then soak them for 5-10 minutes. File away the rest of the remaining acrylic with a buffer. Wash hands and then apply a nail hardener. I apply the hardener everyday to assure full coverage.
