What Was The Score On The Second Day Of The First Test Match Between England And West Indies?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It was England's turn to enjoy some glory after their dismal World Cup performance as the second day of the first test between England and West Indies started.  Taking advantage of the gimcrack fielding of the West Indian players and the indigence of motivation in the West Indian side, the English team managed to score a mountain of 553 runs at the loss of just five wickets, three of which had fallen the first day.  On a whole, the second day saw a tremendous dis balance in wickets and runs with a gargantuan score of 350 runs on the particular day against just 2 measly wickets.  Paul Collingwood was the second century scorer after Alistair Cook did it for his team on the first day.  The pathetic state of the West Indian fielding could be conveniently concluded from the fact that Collingwood was dropped two times during his innings, which resulted in his elongated stay at the crease.  But it was the magnificent partnership between Ian Bell and Prior with both of the players scoring phenomenal hundreds and still remaining unbeaten.  As for West Indies, Powell took 2 wickets, while Colleymore, Taylor and Bravo each managed to capture one wicket.
