How Do You Stop An Iron Skillet From Smoking?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In order to stop your iron skillet or your cast iron pan from smoking, just make sure that temperature of the stove or heater is right and not too hot. This way you could burn your food. Just keep your temperature low and cook for longer.

If your skillet is smoking don't think that there is anything wrong with it. Just clean your pan and then re-season it. Use vegetable oils instead. When you pour water, their droplets will sizzle around the skillet emitting smoke. Make sure you don't put large amounts of cold liquid on the skillet as it could crack. Your food will not stick on to your pan if it is seasoned properly. If you are cooking with refined sunflower oil then make sure the temperature set is around 227*C.
