Management is a function that is intrinsic to all human organizations and all human endeavors, be it something as trivial as managing a household affairs. However, in truly the corporate sense management is a function which involves the practices of planning, organizing, leading and controlling activities in order to yield healthy, productive and consistent results. As a field of studies it endeavors to find out the most effective and efficient practices that can be used to manage the factors of production which includes human resource, capital, time and other areas. It is both an art and science, art in that it deals with people and science because of the methods involved to gain a competitive edge over one's contemporaries in the market place.
