Falling Asleep At Night, Can You Help?

I am having trouble sleeping at night. It's been going on for at least 6 months. The drs have given me pills to take, but of course at first they work, then they stop working. Is there anything else I can do besides no drinking any caffeine after 6:00 pm? Any ideas to fall asleep? And at times when I do fall asleep then I wake up in the middle of the night and cannot fall back asleep. Thanks..

As someone who has had sleeping problems for many years i can sympathise. The long and the short of it is that you work yourself into a regular pattern. Getting up earlier and if necessary ,exercising a bit more to tire yourself out more during the day. Drugs etc can be a useful tool to help establish a pattern, but really only as a last resort.  If you waken up during the night don't start watching telly as this can stimulate the mind and prevent you going back to sleep. Come down and make a warm drink and perhaps read a few pages from a book before trying again. I found a good walk in the evening while listening to a little music on my ipod worked much better than any tablets. :)

Here are some things that work for me:
-exercise right b4 bed-> it wears me out enough
      -read a good book
      -deep breaths
--what doesn't work: Listening to music- I get too pumped up, then I can't fall asleep...
Well maybe some of this will work for you...
