Can I Run A 40amp Swimming Pool Heater On 2.5mm Twin & Earth Wire?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

No, the wire is too small and will not be able to dissipate the heat from the amount of electron flow that is required at 40 amps and it will fry. The heavier the wire the better, there is no such thing as over kill in this area.

Remember, even that copper conducts electricity there is still a certain amount of resistance to current flow in all metals and it is more so if the wire is not solid wire.
