A numb big toe can either be a symptom of a fracture or a nerve compression. That would depend on where the numbness is. If it is anywhere close to your bone, and you find it extremely difficult to even move your foot, chances are that it could be a fracture where your toe is severely damaged. If you can walk but a little pain persists every time you take one step then it could be a hairline fracture. It could also be a tendon tear; although the occurrence of these is very rare. What you can also do it wait for a while to check if the symptoms persist. If they do, then get an X-ray to ascertain the cause of the numbness. Your physician may also ask you to get an MRI done one you have finished with the X-Ray.

There are times when my big toe goes numb. It doesn't have the typical pins and needles feeling to it and parts of it looks yellowish (not fleshy pink). After extensive massaging it, it will turn pink again and the feeling will return. What would that cause this?
