I know someone who is a homosexual who doesn't want to be like that, prays, repents, praises, goes to church and gives thanks to God. I know that being a homosexual is a sin in the Bible. Does this person still go to heaven?

Yes, we all have sinned but God does forgive sins.  If going to heaven is based on sinning then none of us will go to heaven.  That's why He sent his Son to die on the cross to take away our sins.  Christians believe that if you ask Jesus into your life, repent, ask for forgiveness, you will be saved and He will help you to live a Christian life.

This is a very serious question, the only way I can answer it would be to go to the Bible. First I believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, as well as the only authority by which I live. The Bible says that anyone who has sinned will not go to heaven, but the Bible also says that we are in the era of the Great Tribulation  and there will be a "great multitude that no man can number" being saved. That means that anyone who is a sinner can have the hope of being saved, no matter what kind of sin. All sins are equal, there is none that is worse than another.  There is only one sin that can not be forgiven, that is the sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. This sin was committed by the Pharisees of Jesus time, they said that Jesus was of Satan, they said that Jesus could perform miracles because he was of Satan. That is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. God is saving a great multitude, pray that God will have mercy and even you can be saved, or your friend.

God states in His word that no one will enter heaven if there is sin in their heart.  With repentance comes also a change of heart.  If a person sins then repents and then keeps commiting the same sin, then the heart has not been changed.  That goes for any sin, not just the sin of homosexuality.  Now I know of homosexuals who have becomes Christians and no longer practice homosexuality by refraining from sex.  This is very difficult and can only come through a change from God.  But God is able to help this person in times of temptation.  Just like He helps any person during times of any temptation.  So I guess the answer is that this person can go to heaven if he is forgiven and has turned his life around with the help of God.  As with any other Christian, it is a daily walk with God.  Otherwise we let our guard down to Satan and spiral down.  Hope this helps.
