What Is The Symbol Used For Electrical Resistance?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Resistance is the ratio of voltage to current. The symbol used for resistance is 'R'. In a circuit diagram resistance is represented by a zigzag line. It is an opposition to the flow of a current in a circuit. The resistance in a circuit is directly proportional to the applied voltage.

    Voltage = Resistance * current

    Resistance = voltage / current

    The unit of resistance is ohm. If the voltage applied is one volt and one ampere current passes through the circuit, then the resistance in the circuit is one ohm.

    Unit of resistance= Unit of voltage/ Unit of current

    Unit of resistance = Volts/ ampere

    Unit of resistance = Ohm
