If the mouthparts of the tick are left in the skin they will cause an infection, ticks should be completely removed by your vet to ensure the tick is removed whole.

I would go to a vet. Some ticks carry posion. If he starts throwing up before you get him seen, take him to the emergency vet right away.

Ticks don't carry poison but they do carry lyme disease. If your not sure if its ticks and you see bitewounds on the skin it could be something else, fleas, mites, or a skin infection

Did you remove the tick by yourself? If so are you sure you got the head of the tick out? If it's still swollen it may be infected. You should have your vet take a look at him.
