Saint Patrick's Day is the day on which the feast day of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is celebrated. It falls on the 17th of March every year and is informally called as Paddy's Day. In Ireland it is a nation wide holiday. It is celebrated on a large scale in the USA; however it is not a national holiday there.
The Irish observe the day by pinning shamrock to their lapels or hats, or alternatively, they sport badges coloured green white and orange. Youngsters generally incorporate the colour green in their hair. People also sport painted tattoos of the shamrock, especially American tourists.
Generally Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated by wearing green, although the actual colours of the day traditionally used to be blue and orange.
