The Hudson River is the river which starts to flow from Lake Tear of the Clouds on the southwest side of Mount Marcy, the highest peak of New York. The river is 315 miles long.

The deepest point of the river is at a distance of 216 feet from the surface. The place is known as World' End, located near West Point. The widest point of the river is Haverstraw at the distance measuring 3 and half miles in width.

Glaciers play a prominent role in shaping and carving the Hudson. From the region of Troy south to the river's mouth in New York Harbour, the river attains the characteristics of both a river as and an ocean. The highest tide of the river happens at Troy where water rises as high as 4.7 feet.
