Where Is Holland?

Answer Question

Holland is a region in Netherlands. It is located to the central-western part of Netherlands and is a constitutional monarchy in west Europe on the North Sea. Almost half of this country lies below sea level. In English, Holland is often used to denote the entire Netherlands but is erroneous as per the Dutch and Holland is just a state or province in Netherlands. Amsterdam is the capital of Holland. This place is divided into two parts namely South Holland and North Holland.

Holland means Holt land which means "wooded land" as per the popular but incorrect conception for actually Holland means "hollow land" and refers to its low lying geography and it is derived from the words hol land. Dutch is the national and official language of Holland. It is great cultural, economic and political centre in Netherlands. It has been a county since the Holy Roman Empire in the 9th century and was ruled by the counts of Holland during the 13th - 15th century.
