When Did The Draft For The Vietnam War Officially Begin?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There was no draft specifically for the American War in Vietnam.  The Selective Service Act of 1947 had been conscripting--during war and peacetime-- since its inception until its last calls in 1973, when it went into "deep stand-by".  Some, whose appeals for deferment had begun in 1973 or earlier, were finally inducted as late as 1975.
