    Even though the decision to quit smoking can be the wisest a person can ever take there are several short term consequences that a person may experience. A person's blood sugar level drops and they tend to eat more. It is believed that quitting smoking can lead to weight gains of as much as ten pounds. Then the dependence on nicotine that a body develops and the consequences of denying the body nicotine can result in withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, increased appetite, anger and frustration, inability in concentrating, irritability etc.

    The immediate positive effects include the ability to smell and taste far better than before as well as a marked reduction in Carbon Monoxide levels in the blood. Long term benefits are innumerable and include a healthier respiratory system.
