    I Will Deduct The Days' Pay From The Rent,was This The Correct Thing To Do? Should I Have Done Nothing?

    I work until 2am and maintenance started working(hammering,pounding and yelling) in the apartment upstairs.I can't go to work because lack of sleep and sent the manager a letter stating I will deduct the days' pay from the rent,was this the correct thing to do? Should I have done nothing?

    Morally you should forgive. It is a great virtue. But you must aware the persons about the mistake which they did. You must realize the the loss which you had and may be there will be some other persons in the neighborhood who might be sick or something.

    I think you are right about the first part,I should forgive,and I have,but they still need to take resbonsibility for their actions.Our apartment rules are - be considerate toward your neighbors,no noise between the hours of 10pm and 8am. So shouldn't that be for everyone including management? I don't believe in double standards.
