    Henderson is a metropolis positioned in Henderson County, along the length of the Ohio River within Western Kentucky. It was identified as "Red Banks" by the inhabitant Americans who in the beginning survived and hunted there as of the reddish earth soil on the banks of the river.

    According to the 2000 census, the city residents were 27,373 and the urban or the metropolitan population was 342,815. It is an element of the Evansville, Indiana municipal or metropolitan area. The city has an entire area of 44.2 km square out of which 38.8 km square is land and the rest is water i.e. 5.5 km square according to the United States Census Bureau. A minute portion of Henderson County lies north of the present path of the river, in what would in general be considered of as in Indiana.
