A large company is made up of share holders. Each share holder has put an equal amount of money to the business in the set up or the long run. If the company closes down due to non debt reason, each share holder will receive an equal amount of the business worth. If it closes down due to debt reasons the share holders would have to pay the debt equally out of their own pockets!!

You're talking about stock market right? Well, a share holder is someone who buys and owns shares of a company or companies. For example, the coca cola company has many shares, if you buy some of those shares, you are a share holder.
