Why Are Starting Godhra Kand?

Godhra Kand is the word that refers to t he Gujarat Violence that happened in the year 2002. It was actually a series of communal riots that happened between the Hindus and the Muslims of Gujarat.

The background of Godhra Kand is said to be the Gujarat Train Burning. Thus happened due to an altercation that happened between Muslims and Activists of Vishva Hindu Parishad who were coming from Ayodhya through the Sabarmathi express. This triggered the Muslims to burn the railway Coach in the town of Godhra on Februrary 27, 2002. Around 58 Hindus including some women and children were burnt alive in the coach.

When the bodies of the people burnt in the train were brought to Ahmedabad, the VHP called for a state wide strike on February 28, 2002, that was supported by the BJP state government. This led to a few days of pure violence between February 28 and March 3 and then restarted on March 15 and continued till June.
