How Does Vinegar Dissolve Egg Shells But Not The Membrane?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You can infer that there is something in the egg shell that the vinegar reacts with that is not in the membrane (I believe it's calcium).  When the vinegar has finished reacting with all the calcium it stops, because there's nothing in the membrane for it to react with.
